You read that right. A few hours and $30 gave our laundry room the face-lift it needed.
But let’s start from the beginning. Remember when our laundry room looked like this?
And then we renovated and it looked like this.
Not so bad…we have a washer, we have a dryer. Period. It wasn’t all that functional, and it definitely wasn’t pretty. We needed an upgrade.
So when I came home from work on Friday, I walked in to this:
Yep, my husband had stacked our washer and dryer. It was headed in the right direction, but I still wasn’t all that happy with it. For one, I wanted the units to be on one side or the other, not right in the middle. But because of where the hoses are, this was our option for now.
To be honest, I left for dinner with girlfriends feeling kind of meh. But when I came home, I was thrilled. Our laundry room looked like this!
All of a sudden it looked complete. And it looked like we did it on purpose, which was my end game all along. I wish I could take credit for this, but Charles gets all the props, top to bottom. I think I’ll keep him.
We already had the two Ikea bookcases, which were given to Charles for helping a friend move. The stacking kit for the washer and dryer, with tax and shipping, cost $28.42. So we came in under $30. Woop woop!
I still have some big ideas. We could still use some blinds in there, and I’d like to add a drying rack and fold down ironing board. The light fixture could be updated and we could add some cabinets in the 4 feet or so of extra wall space we have above the washer and dryer. But for now, it’s perfect. It’s functional, and we’re not embarrassed of it anymore, and that’s half the battle, right?!

Wow! If I went out, I’d be lucky to find dirty clothes in the laundry room…. Usually left on closet floor. :o/
It looks great! Can you tell me the dimensions of your laundry room, please? We need to put full size set in our beach condo and a closet is the best option to get it out of the kitchen. Thank you!

That’s a major improvement! But serious question: can you reach the top machine, or is it not as tall as it looks? :)

Hmm…it’s pretty tall. I can definitely touch all the buttons standing flat footed without a problem, but I’m 5’9″. It’s definitely something you’d want to measure before going this route!
You are much taller than I am! I’ll have to explore another option for ours.
Stacking made all the difference. And so great to have all that storage now too.

I love this! It’s the perfect amount of storage and looks beautiful with the washer and dryer set. I am still hanging on to my old washer and dryer but secretly wishing I had a good excuse (and the money) to buy a new set!

Wow… for some reason, I had no idea that you can stack front load washer and dryers! We are moving into a house that just has a laundry closet and I think there is so much wasted space with that when there is much needed space for more storage. I may have to look into doing this! :)
