Life Lately

You may have noticed that I’ve been a little aloof around here lately, and for good reason. There has been so much going on outside of the blog recently that I wanted to be fully present. It’s hard sometimes to find a balance, and sometimes I end up just neglecting this space for a few days. So thanks for sticking around!

Anyway, here’s a few random updates, in no particular order…

St. Patrick’s Day – Home Style, Personal Style, Party Style

Just 3 more days until St. Patrick’s Day! I always love this holiday because green is one of my favorite colors…both to wear and to decorate with. Even our house is green!

Everyone says “Don’t get pinched…wear your green!” on St. Patty’s, but have you ever wondered why? Apparently St. Patrick’s signature color was originally blue, but because Ireland is so green and St. Patty used the shamrock to explain the Trinity, green eventually became the color of choice to celebrate this holiday. So what about the pinching? This more secular tradition came later when Irish immigrants in American wore green to make them invisible to leprechauns. Pinching those who didn’t wear green was meant to remind them that leprechauns could sneak up at any time. #TheMoreYouKnow

Anyway, just for fun, I’ve pulled together some of my favorite greens in three categories: Home Style, Personal Style, and Party Style! Enjoy!

Girls’ Night Paint Party with Zoe’s Kitchen

A few weeks ago, I hosted a girls’ night painting party with Zoe’s Kitchen and Wine & Design. It was so fun! Zoe’s has been one of my favorite restaurants ever since we lived in Raleigh almost 6 years ago. The food is always fresh, and the light Mediterranean cuisine is different than so many of the options we have. Plus, Zoe’s let’s you eat guilt-free while still being satisfied.

Take a look at some shots from the party!

The Best Valentine’s Day Gifts I Ever Received

Happy Friday, friends! As I said earlier this week, I’m not big on Valentine’s Day. There’s usually a lot of build up for no real reason. I remember in college, we always went out to a nice, expensive dinner and got each other really thoughtful gifts. Now, there’s nothing we’d like more than to order a pizza, drink some wine, and watch a movie. Funny how your idea of date night changes over the years, huh?

Now we usually set a price limit for most gifts, and it’s usually pretty low for V Day. I suggested we skip the gifts this year, but Charles didn’t like that, so we have a $10 limit (Oh the joys of home ownership and lots of bills!).  This could get interesting.

Anyway, today I wanted to share 3 of the best Valentine’s Day gifts I’ve ever received.
