Resolutions…Just Not Mine

Resolutions. We all have them this time of year. Even if you won’t admit it. There’s just something about the new year that incites this “everything will be different now” attitude in all of us. For some, these resolutions lasts all year, and might even lead to a new lifestyle. For others, those fires have burned out by mid January.

I’ve decided to play my resolutions close to the chest this year…mainly because I have about 9,762,876 of them that reach in so many different directions it’s confusing to even me. Some will stick and some will go out the window, as is tradition. I’m not getting too serious about any of them. All I know is that 2014 was about the worst year I can remember for a whole lot of personal reasons, and I’m determined to make 2015 better.

So instead of sharing my resolutions, I thought I’d point you to some great reads on how to get this year started on the right foot. I’ve created a Pinterest board full of resolutions, healthy habits, career motivation, life lessons, and just general pep talks that are all brand spanking new to the web. I hope you enjoy…I know I sure did!

702 Archives: Dollar Store Dinos

Over the holiday break I took a browse back through my archives and landed on one of my most favorite tutorial posts: Dollar Store Dinos! This was a quick little project I did one evening back in our old apartment, just after we had decided to purchase the Park Avenue house. Dollar store dinosaurs + gold spray paint + a couple glasses of wine = the cutest little decor pieces ever!

Our 2014 Christmas Cards

This year was kind of a hodge-podge year when it comes to Christmas cards. Last year we went with a Year In Review style card, but decided to go more classic this year.

We ordered these cards from Minted. We loved the retro look of them, and the fact that they are postcards so postage is a little less.

And because I had a code for a few free cards from Tiny Prints, we also picked out these.

I wish I could send out a card to all my readers. But know how much I appreciate each and every one of you, and I’m wishing you the merriest of Christmases and the happiest new year!

Gift Guide Monday – For The Entertainer

I know, I know…it’s Thursday. It’s been a pretty rough week. We lost our sweet fur baby on Monday, and it’s been even harder than we imagined. To say that I’ve been a little blue this week would be an understatement. So that’s why I’ve been MIA…in case you were wondering.

Anyway, enough with the sad stuff. Here are some ideas for the hostess with the mostess!  Remember, each item comes from a small business and is under $100.

Instagram Inspiration

You may have noticed…I just haven’t been feeling it lately.

But don’t worry, this isn’t one of those posts. We’ve all seen them. Hell, we’ve probably all written them. And let’s be honest…it gets a little old. I used to follow a blogger that would post on the first of each month about this revelation she had had about blogging regularly, and then it was silence after a day or two until the next month.

I love blogging. Truly. But like anything else, it ebbs and flows. So I’m keeping one goal in mind through this crazy busy holiday season: quality over quantity.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a few sources of my inspiration…my favorite Instagram accounts!

Next week I’ll be sharing our holiday decor around the house. Unfortunately, when I went to photograph everything last weekend, all of my magnolia had deflated overnight, leaving my mantels looking a little sad. Lucky for us, we seem to have a never-ending supply of magnolia in the back yard!
