Charleston Review: Where We Stayed & Dined

Several weeks ago, we traveled to one of my favorite cities, Charleston. I was there for the Southern Blog Society conference, and Charles tagged along so that we could extend our stay and make an anniversary trip out of it. It was the perfect summer getaway!

We stayed at Fulton Lane Inn right off King Street. I can’t say enough good things about this place! First of all, it was adorable, quietly tucked away in the heart of downtown Charleston. I was worried that it may be a little noisy at night being on King Street, but because it’s mostly retailers on that strip, we didn’t have any problems at all.

SBScon Part 3: What I Learned (The Technical Stuff)

When I started writing this “What I Learned” post about my first blog conference, I quickly realized that I couldn’t possibly fit everything into one post without it being a gazillion words long. So I decided to split it up into two parts: the technical stuff and the not-so-technical stuff.

We had some pretty amazing speakers, and I learned something from each and every one of them. You may have even noticed some of the changes I’ve made on the blog lately, which are a direct result of the knowledge I gained at the conference. Here are the highlights.

A few weeks ago, I headed to Charleston for the Southern Blog Society Conference. This was my first blog conference, and it has left me wanting more!

The Swoozie’s cocktail party was a great icebreaker, and I was relieved to find that I wasn’t the only first-timer there. The next morning, all attendees met at The Charleston Grill for breakfast, and then headed over to the main event at The Riviera. And let me just tell you…having your event’s name on The Riviera’s brightly lit sign on King Street is pretty exciting!

23 Things I’ve Learned in 3 Years of Marriage

Today is our 3rd wedding anniversary. Although we’ve only been married for 3 years, Charles and I have been together for almost 9. Sometimes I find it hard to even remember what life was like BC (before Charles)…we met on my 19th birthday and never looked back.

Charles and I are incredibly lucky to both have parents that have set a marvelous example for us, but there are some things you just have to learn for yourself when it comes to marriage. I don’t pretend to have it all figured out, but here are just a few things I’ve learned.

SBScon Part 1: Swoozie’s Welcome Party

A few weeks ago I crossed a major item off my bucket list and attended my first ever blog conference. The Southern Blog Society Conference, or SBScon, was held this year in one of my favorite cities: Charleston, SC. I stepped way outside my comfort zone and met some great new friends a learned a ton!

I’ve had several people ask me, “What is a blog conference?” I guess to a lot of people it sounds kind of strange. But it really is just a way for like-minded bloggers to meet up and share their experiences, while learning a few things too.  It’s also a place for bloggers and meet brands (and brands to meet bloggers) to start a conversation about future partnerships. But overall, a blog conference is an important step in continuing to build your blog.
