2016 Day Planner Comparison

I’m a planner kind of girl. All of my friends make fun of me for it, but I carry my life in my planner. I don’t leave home without it. I even have color coded pens and sticky notes to keep all of my events, plans, notes, and lists organized. Blue is just for me, green is for hubs, black is for the blog, purple is for work, pink is for holidays and birthdays.

I know, I know, I’m a total nerd. One of the best things about starting my own business is getting to go shopping for office supplies. Office Max is my mecca. I’ve always been this way…I used to run a “shop” in our basement one summer, I think before 4th or 5th grade, and every day my dad had to come home at lunch and buy office supplies (that he originally bought for me, mind you) from my shop. Luckily he understands, because I definitely get it from him!

Southern Ideal Home Show Giveaway

This year, I’ve been making more of an effort to attend home tours and home shows across the state. They are usually fairly inexpensive, if not free, and provide a wealth of inspiration! Already this year, I’ve visited the New Bern Historic Homes & Gardens Tour, the Herring Hulse House, and the spring Southern Ideal Home Show. And in a few weeks, I’m excited to be headed to the fall Southern Ideal Home Show!

The Southern Ideal Home Show in Raleigh, NC is the Triangle’s largest home and garden event. The fall show will be September 25-27 at the NC State Fairgrounds and will feature over 300 top area professionals in home and garden.

Disclaimer: Posts are recyclable. A version of this post was originally published here, but it makes sense for Labor Day as well. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Labor Day is the unofficial end to summer, and I for one am ready for it! If you know me at all, you know that I am no fan of hot weather, and long for fall and even winter days year round. But I love the south so much, I’m stuck here for life! :)

Today I thought I’d share a few tips for getting the most out of this holiday weekend!

Life Changes

Well folks, this is going to be a long one, so get comfortable. In January, I set a mantra for my life in 2015: Live less out of habit and more out of intent.  I’ve strived to be intentional about the moves I make and the way in which I approach the different parts of my life. I’ve been determined to push fear to the back of my mind and pursue the things that make my life better.  And today, I’ve got some crazy news to share with you…I’m quitting my day job to be self-employed!

Say what?! If you would have told me 5 years ago that before my 28th birthday I would be quitting my day job as an accountant and starting a pseudo-creative business of my own, I would have politely looked up the number of a great therapist for you. But as of August 27, that’s exactly what I’m doing.
