From Winter to Spring with Chairish

Is it just me, or has this winter just dragged on and on? I’m ready for some green grass, fresh flowers, and sunny days! So when Chairish asked me to take a room from white to bright, I was all about it.

Chairish sent me a few rug options to center my room around, and it was an easy choice for me. I’ve been on a real navy and pink kick lately, so the obvious winner was the Blue Persian Sarouk Rug. I love the variations of blues and pinks in this rug…it just feels like Spring!

Because I am so in love with my own pink sofa, I thought I’d add this gorgeous tufted lady to pick up the pinks in the rug. And you know it wouldn’t truly be a Sarah room without a touch a bunch of brass!

I love the idea of having a trunk serve as a coffee table. The glass and brass tables are oh so pretty, but smudges and fingerprints on the glass can make a room look untidy in a hurry. With the trunk, you can add books, magazines, a tray, a vase of flowers, or whatever other knick knacks you’d like and it will still look nice and neat.

So without further adieu, here’s my bright and Springy room design!

Cozy Snow Day Interiors

Yesterday North Carolina got snow for the 2nd time this year, which is kind of a big deal around here. I know you Northeastern folks are cracking up at that, but it’s true. It is pretty comical though. If we have a forecast of 1 inch of snow, schools are closed and you can’t find milk, bread, or eggs at the grocery store. (Side note: why do people buy out these three items? I’ve never understood it.) Yesterday we got about 2 inches and tomorrow we’re supposed to get more.

So of course I’m dreaming about cozying up by a fire, drinking some hot cocoa, and flipping through some much overdue magazines. And I’m also dreaming about these spaces to do that in!

Luxury Boxes: When Interior Design & Sports Come Together

I read this post a few weeks back and was completely enthralled. Two of my favorite things coming together: sports and interior design! I mean, what’s not to like?

Clark Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, had this luxury suite built in Arrowhead Stadium. With thee stories and six bedrooms, the “box” has everything you could ever need!

Not bad, right?

The article also reminds us of the original “luxury box” — the Houston Astrodome built by Dallas Mayor Judge Ray Hofheinz in 1965. As if the sports and concerts going on in the Astrodome weren’t enough entertainment, Hofheinz’s suite had an office, a boardroom, a swanky bar, a barber shop, a beauty parlor, a playroom, a bowling alley, a putting green, a shooting gallery, a pool table, and even a presidential suite!

Pops of Red for Valentine’s Day

I’m not a red person. It’s just not my favorite color (unless we’re talking about NC State — Go Pack!). In fact, we don’t really have any red in our house other than the art in our master bathroom. And that was a total fluke…I borrowed it from a local interior design shop to test out the size, knowing that I would hate the colors in our bathroom. But I actually loved it. It’s just the pop that room needed!

So that’s how I take my red: in pops. While I totally respect and admire a bright red room, it’s just not something you’re going to find in my house.

But each year when February rolls around, I can’t help but be drawn to a few red things in honor of Valentine’s Day. So today I thought I’d share some of my favorite red pops!

A Completed Laundry Room with Levolor and Lowe’s

Last week I shared our shopping experience at Lowe’s to get our new Levolor blinds for our newly-renovated laundry room.

To refresh your memory, here’s a shot of our laundry room before.

702parkproject - levolor before

We stacked our washer and dryer a few weeks ago, which opened up so many more possibilities than I expected. And it only cost us $30! But while we loved the amount of light that big window lets in, privacy was becoming more and more of a concern.

The problem that we run into time and time again is that most things in are house are 1. larger than most “standards”, and 2. required to be custom. So we were thrilled to find our “Custom Size Now” Levolor blinds online at Lowe’s for right around $50 per window. Most others that we have found are upwards of $80! Plus, Lowe’s will deliver to your local store, and cut your blinds to size in less than 5 minutes…all for free! (By the way, Lowe’s carries most normal-sized window blinds in stock, so you can pick them up today. Our windows were just….difficult special.) You can read more about that here.

Luckily I had my handy husband to help me hang these giant blinds!

We decided to go with the faux wood blinds because they are more durable and warp-resistant than wood, and a fraction of the cost. When you have 33 custom-sized windows, budget-friendly and durable will win every time!

As you can see, the blinds still let in plenty of light, but allow for more privacy when needed. If you’re in the market for blinds, I can’t recommend Levolor at Lowe’s enough!
