Quotable Friday

702 park project - quote - mother teresa

There is so much ugliness and hate in the world, and we see it every day. Now more than ever, I think it’s imperative that we treat each other with kindness and respect, no matter what views you have. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. There is something terribly wrong with hiding behind a keyboard and spewing hate. Just be kind.

Ok, that’s my soap box for the day. Have a lovely weekend, friends!

Lessons From Our Fathers

In honor of Father’s Day coming up this weekend, I asked a few of my favorite bloggers and designers to share the best lessons they’ve learned from their fathers. But, of course, I have to start by sharing a little about my own dad.

A huge part of who I am comes from my dad, and we are so alike in so many ways. We are both very analytical, and love a color-coded spreadsheet. He’s taught me that if you’re going to do something, do it right. My love for music and football runs deep, and that’s all from my dad. I remember riding to middle school every day and we’d “jam out” to Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, and Bruce Springsteen. He patiently taught me the ins and outs of football (the greatest sport there is), and proved that there are some things worth planning your Saturday around.

Design Trend: Copper Tubs

Do you ever wish you could easily and inexpensively change out the design style in your home? I love (almost) everything about our home, but sometimes I dream about being able to switch styles depending on my mood. And lately, my mood has been leading me to copper.

I’ve kind of fallen in love with copper accents throughout the home, but my favorite is definitely the freestanding copper bathtub. It’s subtle glow and warm tones make a space feel warm and inviting while still being ultra chic. Plus it feels as luxurious as gold…and y’all know I love me some gold!

Curb Appeal: Front Porch Plants

We’ve been doing a lot of work on the front and back yard this spring. It’s come a long way from looking like this! There’s still plenty to do, but lately I’ve just had one thing on my mind.

Our landscaping has grown up a bit, but now I’m ready to add some large potted plants out front. I’ve been eyeing some urns and planters, but it’s really hard to find ones that are actually made of stone, not plastic.
