HomeGoods Finds

Y’all. HomeGoods’ game is on point. I’ve always been a huge fan…you can see that I basically decorated our entire back porch with HomeGoods finds. So when I stopped by over the weekend, I wasn’t surprised to find that I wanted to take home just about everything in the store. Instead, I snapped a few photos of some of my favorites to share with you. Take a look!

I’m still kind of regretting not picking up these gorgeous lamps for just $29 each. But we already have more lamps than we can use. If you saw my attic you’d understand.

Feeling Patriotic

It took us 2 years, but we finally got our flagpole up on July 3rd…just in time for America’s birthday! Now more than ever, I feel it’s important to show solidarity and unite as a nation. I’m proud to hang this flag.

It saddens me to see people make a call for unity, and in the same breath condemn anyone who disagrees with them. When did opposing opinions turn to hate? It has become acceptable, and in many cases expected, that we attack a person’s physical appearance. Or family. Or intelligence. We say things that are hurtful, things that can’t be taken back, and friends turn against each other. No one wins.

All of this to say, be kind. Differences of opinion are actually wonderful. It’s how we all grow. But don’t lose sight of humanity. As Sandy Dahl said after 9/11, “If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.”

Summer in the Hamptons

When we moved into our house 2 years ago, Charles and I decided to forgo cable. We were paying an insane amount for the service so we opted to just stick with Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Netflix (all of which we share with family to cut down costs). It was one of the best decisions we’ve made, except for one little thing…we now watch way more TV than we ever have before!

I’m definitely a binge watcher. House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, Bloodline, Man In The High Castle…I could go on. I love them all! It’s also been really fun to go back and watch old series that I never got to watch, like Friday Night Lights and, most recently, Revenge. Which brings me to today’s post.
