Earlier this week, Charles and I attended the visitation for a neighbor and friend who passed away suddenly. As we were leaving it started pouring rain, so we decided to hang out on the porch (pictured above) for a few minutes to wait for the summer shower to pass.
He had invited us for drinks on the porch several times since we moved to town, but we always had a conflict. And when we were free, we didn’t think to take he and his wife up on their offer. Standing on that porch, we both became very aware of the fact that that will never happen now. My heart immediately felt heavy with regret.
You see, we put things off because we think there will be time for them later. But the truth is, there may not be. So hug your loved ones, spend time with those you care about, and always accept an invitation for drinks on the porch.
