In lieu of the usual Quotable Friday, I wanted to chat with you for a minute.
Blogging is fun. It’s a whole lot of work, but it’s fun. And I’ve found that, like most things, you get out of it what you put into it.
There are some bloggers out there that just want to drive traffic and scream to everyone, “Look at me!” But they don’t really give anything back. (And no, this is not a conversation about bloggers making money. I make money from my blog and anyone who says bloggers shouldn’t make money has never actually put in the work to run a blog.) I realize that the only reason I have a semi-successful blog is because of you…the readers. I appreciate each of you more than you could possibly know. I love your comments and questions, even when I don’t agree. You keep me on my toes.
That’s why, starting next Monday, I’ll be hosting regular weekly giveaways for no other reason than to bring the good stuff to you! It might be for 6 weeks, or 6 months, or longer. I haven’t decided yet. But it’s just a small way for me to say thank you.
I’ve got some pretty stellar art and gifts lined up, including this adorable button, a custom address stamp, and even a gift card to this shop. Each weekly prize will have a value of at least $50, and sometimes much more.
And don’t worry…I won’t be using these giveaways as an excuse to skip a day of blogging. On the days that I host a giveaway, you’ll also find a regularly scheduled blog post as well.

Sarah I love your blog and I love reading almost anything you post. If I am not crazy about it, I just go on to the next one and wait for another one from you. I read a lot of blogs but I will tell you one thing I cannot stand about certain blogs. When they offer give aways that make you like this and visit that and tell everyone and dance naked in the forest. Okay the last one isn’t true. Yesterday a blog I do enjoy offered a large prize. The list to enter was larger than the blog. I “unsubscribed” to her blog. I am guilty of not commenting on all blogs but I do enjoy them. I am an old lady that doesn’t do facebook, doesn’t tweet and does not do instagram and truthfully I am not going to start now. I don’t understand why there can’t be an entry for just reading someone’s blog. I did tell a blogger that one time and got the nastiest retort from her which truly shocked me. I saved it. Anyway that is my opinion. Please keep up the good work, I learn a lot from you, thank you.
Hi Patty, thanks for your feedback. I guess I understand where you’re coming from. These giveaways are truly meant as a way for me to say thank you to my readers by offering them a chance at a wonderful product, and also introducing them to some really great brands. Each item that I give away is handpicked by me and is something I truly love. I won’t be doing giveaways just to do them. I will also include a free DAILY entry for my readers…no following or visiting necessary. If this is something you just aren’t interested in, I totally understand if you choose not to follow. But like I said, I don’t plan to cut back on content as a result of these giveaways, so hopefully you’ll still find a reason to stick around. Have a wonderful weekend! :)
