Magazines. It’s a problem. It’s an addiction. There should be a Magazines Anonymous. I could be the leader.
Real Simple, Southern Living, Garden & Gun, Martha Stewart Living, Traditional Home, House Beautiful, Veranda, Better Homes & Gardens…seriously. It’s embarrassing. Who needs all of these?! And this doesn’t even include the ones my mother-in-law brings over when she’s finished thumbing through! (In fairness, many of these were gifts and/or free subscriptions through various promotions.)
Maybe if I cancelled a few most of my magazine subscriptions I’d actually have a bit more to spend on decorating, but I’m just a print kind of girl. Don’t get me wrong, I looove Pinterest (I mean, who doesn’t?!) and all of the instant inspiration available out there, but there’s just something about flipping through a mag while I eat my cereal in the morning that makes me happy.
So, instead of crying into said cereal about not being able to afford to completely decorate our oversized space, I’ve decided to just decorate with my beloved magazines.

Ha! I love this because I have a problem too – can’t even keep up with my magazines every month. At least now I know what to do with them :) ps please tell me you get This Old House and Country Living…?
No, I don’t get those…don’t tempt me!! ;) I’m an obsessive reader of everything This Old House online though. They have the best stuff!!
I say if books and magazines are hidden away, when will you read them? Having them out means more time for inspiration!
I am right there with you girl! I started organizing them by publication and ordered the months. Now I need a HUGE built-in to house them all. I might be staking them and displaying them all over my house! Someone might have to come dig me out when I’m older!
I am a complete magazine-aholic too! I love Pinterest, but there is something about tearing an idea out of a magazine and flipping through the actual pages that is magical. I LOVE the idea of decorating with magazines. I just saw a picture (maybe on Glitter Guide) where someone did that and it was amazing. May have to try it!

What a great idea!! I’m always recycling mine because I never know what to do with them when I’m done. I never thought to just use them to decorate with! I love how neat and tidy they look in all your spaces! Thanks for sharing, visiting from Inspire me Please! :)
I love how you decorated with the magazines. I love magazines as well…but right now I only subscribe to Better Home & Garden.
I love magazines as well…and I use them to decorate as well…but I make collages out of them. It’s so much fun! I decorate boxes and make picture frames out of them. But that requires tearing them up, so I’m not sure you’d like that very much. Still, magazines are wonderful and have many uses once you’ve read them :)
Great ideas! Pinned. Lou Lou Girls
Having read your blog, you obviously know what you are talking about. I’m sure visiting my page 63U about Thai-Massage will be worth your time!
