Here Comes Peter Cottontail

This year is flying by! It’s already Easter?! When did that happen? Unlike many families, we don’t really have a set Easter tradition. Sometimes we go to the beach with Charles’ family and sometimes we do church and traditional Easter brunch with mine. Do you have an Easter tradition?

Since it’s officially spring, I’ve been getting the house ready for Peter Cottontail. For our dining room table, I wanted something bright and cheerful, with lots of pink, white, and gold of course. Take a look!

I’ve seen all of these fancy centerpieces that I’d like to try, but I just keep going back to flowers. You can’t go wrong with flowers. And candles. The hydrangeas were on sale at the grocery store and just too beautiful to pass up. I’m pretty sure hydrangeas will be a must for our backyard. The camellias are from the bush in our backyard that’s in full bloom right now. I have these buds all over the house!

I wanted to add a little height to the centerpiece, so I sat the vase (which is really a juice carafe) on top of my white and gold cake stand. I think it adds just enough.

I often use both fresh and fake flowers. A lot of people don’t like to “cross contaminate,” but I don’t see why they can’t be used together. It adds in a great mix of textures and colors.

I buy most of my seasonal stuff after the holidays to get good deals…I hate to spend a lot on seasonal things. The runner is from TJ Maxx and the eggs are from Pier 1 a year or two ago. The gold and white dessert plates, salt and pepper shakers, and gold flatware are all from Target. The cake stand was C. Wonder (before they went out of business), and most everything else is vintage.

I spent most of my decorating energy on the table, but I’ve sprinkled in a little Easter throughout the house.

How do you decorate for Easter? How do you plan to celebrate this weekend?
