When I was perusing one of my favorite daily reads, Hooked on Houses, I found out about this 1930s New York mansion that was abandoned in the 1970s. It’s totally creepy, and totally awesome, so I just had to share it with you!
I’m like 97% sure that this place is haunted, but that living room is enough to make me want it. Who knows? Maybe the ghosts are friendly.
I figured this place was in some secluded area in upstate New York, but nope…it’s just a few miles outside NYC. How has it gone 40 years like this?! The estate has 57 rooms and sits on 6 acres, and comes with indoor tennis courts, a bowling alley, and a couple of bars.
I’ve seen about 286 pieces of furniture that I would die for in this house, and I can’t believe all the chandeliers are still there and in tact.
Let’s be honest, there are few things creepier than toys and shoes left for decades. I mean, that’s just a horror movie waiting to happen.

Wow, this mansion is definitely something out of a horror movie! The pictures and descriptions are fascinating, and I can’t believe that it has been abandoned for so long. It’s incredible to think that a property like this, with so many unique features and furnishings, could be left untouched for decades. While I’m not sure I would be brave enough to explore it myself, it’s certainly interesting to see the pictures and imagine what the mansion must have been like in its heyday. The living room is especially stunning, and I can see why the author would be willing to brave any potential hauntings to own it.
