As we roll into summer, the hubs and I have decided to just cruise. No more stressful projects (although, stressful can still be fun!). No more deadlines. We’ve decided to just enjoy the house as it is…at about 80% complete. Plus, we have some new porch space to enjoy!
If you remember, our house to-do list was ridiculously a little long. This spring, we decided to focus mainly on the exterior of the house, and I’m happy with the progress we’ve made.
Here’s what we’ve crossed off in the last 4 months:
Paint the back porches
Install new light on downstairs porch (Ok, technically it’s still in the box, but it’s here!)
Paint porte cochere stoop
Reshape the gravel driveway
Complete landscape in the front of house
And here’s what we’ve got left for the exterior:
Replace/repair shutters
Paint back door (red to match the front!)
Screen in upstairs porch
Paint side door (also red)
Replace/repair basement door
Install garage interior and exterior lighting
Landscape the backyard
We started with 46 items on the list, and we’re down to 7. I’m ok with that! I can pretty much tell you that at the end of the summer we will still have 7 items left on that list. And I’m ok with that too!
What’s on your to-do list this summer?
You’ve done so much! Sit back and enjoy the porch!
We want to paint our porch ceilings this summer – something that just didn’t get done in the ORC. And we need to hang our shutters (we got them painted but the hard part is hanging them since we haven’t had shutters before).
Other than that – hoping for some serious “chill” time!
Kristen recently posted…Quick Tip for Painting Doors
I like the idea of painting the front and back doors in bright colour. It looks so stylish and unusual. But as for the option for the finish, I recommend a semi-gloss one. Semi-gloss paint gives you a smoother surface than lower-sheen finishes and has a degree of shine, providing a visual contrast.
