Hi friends! I’m in need of a little advice today.
It’s very important to me to have our house blessed. To some, it probably sounds really silly, but to each his own, right? It’s more a spiritual thing than a religious thing. This is the house that Charles and I hope to be in for the foreseeable future, and it’s important to me that it be filled with love and “good vibes,” for lack of a better word. I’m a strong believer in energies, and I want our home to emit nothing but happy and peaceful energy. I feel that a house blessing is especially necessary after all of the months of stress and frustration that have led us to where we are now.
I’ve done a lot of research, and I’ve read a lot on how to bless your own house, but I really want to bring in a professional. We are not Catholic–in fact, we are Southern Baptists, which is far from it. Do Baptist ministers perform such blessings? Where should I look to find someone to do this for us? Does anyone have Rafiki’s number?

I think it’s a wonderful idea. I think I would get in touch with a feng shui expert and ask for recommendations for someone well versed in blessing homes. Just a thought.
Well if there’s no formal protocol for a Protestant house blessing, why not just make your own? Have a housewarming party and ask someone to say a prayer for you, either the pastor or an eloquent friend.
I would do a sage cleaning and then ask your local minister to come over and say a blessing.
Thanks Jenna! I’m getting a lot of “sage” responses! :)
When my Mom and Dad moved to Haywood Farms they had a littlle get-togehter and the minister from Riverside Methodist came over and did a blessing. I am sure that your Grandma and Grandpa were there :) I hope that you can have your new home blessed.
Thanks Sara!
Use sage! Any time I buy/inherit an antique, I sage it just to clean it of old/other people’s energy. Makes your house smell a bit like pot for the day but then it goes away. -Caitlin
Thanks Caitlin! Great idea! :)
Well I don’t think this is silly at all. I bless all of our homes/apartments etc. My husband and I are very spiritual and not religious either. We both will walk through our home and pray in each room. Just be led by the Holy Spirit (the small still voice from God) and pray what He leads you to pray. Or you can always pray different prayers or scriptures from the bible. If you need some help with scriptures or prayers I could give you some. Just email me at skiptomyrue.com. I also like the idea from the other reader who said have your pastor come pray as well.
