Confession: I have a black thumb. The only plant I’ve successfully kept alive for any real period of time is a cactus. And even that has been touch and go at times. So for me, fake plants that look real are the perfect way to add some life to a space.
When I was planning our staircase makeover in the One Room Challenge, I knew I needed to add pops of color to the space. I love our classic white trim and taupe walls, but they needed a little sprucing up (pardon the pun). And what better way to add liveliness than a plant?
I ordered this silk 4-foot dieffenbachia plant and it fits perfectly into the landing on our newly renovated stairs. It added an element of depth and vibrancy that I wasn’t quite expecting. The best part? No maintenance!
I used to think artificial plants were so cheesy…I kept picturing the plastic, dusty ficus that was in a corner of just about every home in the 90’s. But the dieffenbachia looks so lifelike that I’ve had a few people comment on it thinking it was real. The color variations and veining definitely stand out. And did I mention…no maintenance!
If you’re looking for a lifelike silk plant, check out Permaleaf. They even have artificial outdoor plants that stay green all year long! I’ve been thinking about plants for our front porch, so I may have to order a few from Permaleaf! They are weather friendly and, once again, no maintenance. (Are you getting my point?)
Do you have artificial plants in your house? Would you consider artificial plants outdoors?
This post was in collaboration with Permaleaf. All photos and opinions are my own.
With artificial plants you don’t need to worry about placement. You won’t have to worry about if your plant will be getting enough sunlight or shade or if it?s too close to a cold window.
Hey buddy,
