If you saw this post, you know that I’ve still got a few more ideas for completing my new home office. One thing that is definitely on the list is a new ceiling fan! Ours is just so boring and doesn’t fit this newly bright and fun space. (You might notice that it didn’t make it into any of my One Room Challenge reveal photos.)
I strongly considered a sputnik fixture, and while I love the fun and modern look, this room really needs a fan. Since our house was built in 1902, we have no insulation, so in the summer it can get pretty hot upstairs. Circulation is a must.
I have to admit, I’m not a huge fan of ceiling fans. Most just really leave a lot to be desired. I’ve looked all over but haven’t landed on any that speak to me.
Enter, ParrotUncle! I discovered this lighting site a while back, and they have some seriously chic options. Here are a few that didn’t let function rule out style.
Modern and classy, right? Most of these come with LED lights, which is way more energy efficient than what we have now. The biggest problem I’m having is deciding whether I want a metal/nickel/chrome finish or a white finish? With mostly white furniture and white trim, a white fan could be overkill, or it could be perfect. Thoughts?
Also, with the days getting darker earlier, I’ve discovered that I definitely need another lamp in my office. The one on my desk is great for the desk, but doesn’t provide enough light for the large room. I’m thinking that two floor lamps, one behind my desk in the corner and one in the corner with the peacock chair, could help a lot.
ParrotUncle has some great options for that too, and I especially love their wooden lamps. Since the floors and armoire are wood and the peacock chair is natural, I think the wood would tie in nicely. This floor lamp is my favorite, but there are also a lot of impressive handmade wooden table lamps too!
And lucky for me (and you!), ParrotUncle is Big Holiday Sale all the way through Christmas, with lighting 20-50% off! Plus, they offer free shipping and free returns on orders greater than $50. So get to shopping!
Have you browsed ParrotUncle? With a greater selection of almost any other lighting company, it can take a while! What’s your favorite lamp or fixture? What room of your house needs new lighting? Tell me in the comments below!

I love the design style of the room including colors, furniture, curtains… It brings me the motivation on efficiently working.

Thanks for sharing Sarah. Some cool looking fans you got there. You could go for a regular ceiling instead of fan?
Those fan lamps are good to have in the house. In the home office, it is good to have a good chair also.
