The One Room Challenge is over (for now), but there is always work to do! While I’m so happy with how my office makeover turned out, there are still a few things I’d like to add.
Here’s my plan!
1. Add Height
Scale is something we’ve always struggled with in our house. The rooms are so large and the ceilings are so tall that even furniture can sometimes feel lost in a space. I love the size of my desk and that it’s not so cumbersome, and that it leaves me a lot of room to work on other projects. But we need to add some height in here!
I’m thinking a tall plant or tree in the corner behind my desk could go a long way. It would really fill the space between the two windows and complement the drapes well. I’m leaning towards a fiddle leaf fig because every blogger needs a fiddle leaf fig, right?! Either way, I’ll need to consult this list. #blackthumb
2. Add Interest
The styled bookshelves bring in a lot of color, but the rest of the room could use a little more interest. I’m thinking I should hang a few more things on the walls, and maybe add a fun fixture like a sputnik. That ceiling fan is booooring (which is why this is the only shot I have of it!).
3. Add Customization
Ultimately, my plan is to add custom built-in bookshelves that take up this entire wall. I’d like to be able to organize some client notebooks and maybe even have a small tv. We had our guest bathroom and master bathroom cabinetry custom built and I absolutely love both!
What are you working on lately?

Thanks for the tips. I take it this would not be the minimalist’s office. Haha. Great job! I really like how it turned out.
You’re doing great!
Thank you! How do you qualify for a free home makeover?
I absolutely love the updates you have made to your home office. The addition of the stylish bookshelves is brilliant and brings a lot of color to the room. I can see why you are so happy with the outcome of your makeover. Your plan to add height, interest, and customization to your office space is excellent. Adding a tall plant or tree behind your desk will bring a lot of life to the room and the fiddle leaf fig is a great choice. Hanging a few more items on the wall and adding a fun fixture like a sputnik will bring even more interest to the room. I love the idea of custom built-in bookshelves and organizing your client notebooks.
