Eeek!! Only 1 week left before the big reveal! Are you getting excited?!
Welcome back to the One Room Challenge! In this challenge, 20 designers makeover a space from start to finish in just 6 short weeks. You can catch those designers each Wednesday, and the rest of us will be linking up on Thursdays.
In case you missed it, I’ll be giving my new home office a drab to fab makeover. You can learn more about me and my plans for the office here:
Over the weekend, we took down the old curtains, and Charles and I put together my Alex desk from Ikea. The verdict is in: I love it!! It’s really simple and sleek. (PS- I have the best handy husband!)
Side note: The first photo shows the scale of the room and the windows much better. Charles is 6′ tall…the window is 9′ tall, and the ceilings are 10′ tall.
What’s left:
- Hang custom curtains from Tonic Living
- Add one more coat of Amy Howard lacquer to bookshelves
- Cover back of painted bookshelves
- Bring in furniture and style the room
It’s gonna be a busy week! The weather here has been rainy and nasty for about the past week, so I’ve gotten a little behind on my bookshelves. I’m hoping to have a few good days to get those finished!
I’m also feeling a little unsure about the rug now. With all of the white elements moving in, the “white” in the rug has proven to not actually be white, but more of a cream. I’ve ordered another similar rug, so we’ll see which one works best.
Just 1 week left before the big reveal!! Are you getting excited? Be sure to check out what each of these amazing designers are working on!
A huge thank you to Linda for hosting, and to Tonic Living and Amy Howard for sponsoring this makeover!
I love the rug with it! Already looks great! Hope you guys are awesome!

Love the rug. Your walls don’t appear to be a white white. On my monitor they appear to have yellow undertones like your rug which comes across as a warm white. There is definitely a contrast between your walls and trim. Food for thought a white white rug probably won’t stay that way for long. Your desk on the other hand looks like a white white that matches your trim. I think it’s perfectly o.k. for you to have several shades of white to balance warm tones with cool tones. You have good taste so I’m confident you’re going to pull it all together!
Love that desk! I love the mood board you have so I can’t wait to see how it all comes together Thursday!
