It’s here!! The One Room Challenge is back! If you’re not familiar, 20 designers makeover a space from start to finish in just 6 short weeks. You can catch those designers each Wednesday, and the rest of us will be linking up on Thursdays.
Did you check out the designers yesterday? I seriously cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with. It always blows my mind how much talent there is in the group. I’m especially excited to see Christine’s bedroom (her rooms are always so chic and edgy) and Naomi’s condo (her kitchen makeover was one of my most favorites ever). Whose space are you most excited about?
For this challenge, I’ll be giving my new home office a complete makeover. I shared a little sneak peek a couple of weeks ago…I’m basically turning a guest bedroom into an office. But before I share the plan, a little background…
If you’re just stopping by for the first time, let me tell you a little about myself and this blog. I started the blog in 2013 when my husband and I purchased a dilapidated 1902 American Foursquare house, which just happened to be my husband’s grandmother’s house until she passed away a decade earlier. Since then, we’ve restored it top to bottom, but there’s always another project looming. A lot of people have asked what I will blog about once the house is finished and I just laugh. It will never be finished!! You can learn more about how this family home came to be ours here.
I linked up with the challenge for the first time in the spring, when we gave our two-story back porch an overhaul. You can see that makeover here. We were even featured on Country Living and House Beautiful, which was a little surreal!
Since quitting my job in non-profit accounting about 6 weeks ago, I’ve been slowly working towards getting an office set up. This challenge is just what I need to kick it into gear! So without further ado…the before shots!
Boring, right? As you can see, we really haven’t done much in this room at all since completing the renovation. It’s pretty large (13′ 10″ x 14′ 6″ with 10′ ceilings), so I have plenty of space to work with, and I love the fireplace. The front window is almost 9′ tall, and I can’t wait to show you the custom drapes I’m going to have in here (cough, Tonic Living, cough)!
I’ll share more on my plans next week, but for now I’ll leave you with a taste of my inspiration.

A huge thank you to Linda for hosting, and to Tonic Living and Amy Howard for sponsoring this makeover!
Good luck! It’s gonna be awesome!
