SBScon Part 1: Swoozie’s Welcome Party

A few weeks ago I crossed a major item off my bucket list and attended my first ever blog conference. The Southern Blog Society Conference, or SBScon, was held this year in one of my favorite cities: Charleston, SC. I stepped way outside my comfort zone and met some great new friends a learned a ton!

I’ve had several people ask me, “What is a blog conference?” I guess to a lot of people it sounds kind of strange. But it really is just a way for like-minded bloggers to meet up and share their experiences, while learning a few things too.  It’s also a place for bloggers and meet brands (and brands to meet bloggers) to start a conversation about future partnerships. But overall, a blog conference is an important step in continuing to build your blog.

The first event of the weekend was a cocktail party at the Belmond Charleston Place terrace hosted by Swoozie’s. Instead of telling you every last detail, I’m just going to show you!

I’ll be sharing more about the weekend later on, as well as some things I learned from my first blog conference. See you soon!

  1. That is so fun! I have only attended one ‘blog conference’ (TXSC) a few years back and met some amazing women I’m still in touch with today. It was such a great experience. There is SXSW here every year and it used to be a great way to connect but now it’s just so crazy/crowded. I’d love to find some more intimate blog conferences that aren’t crazy expensive to attend. :D Can’t wait to hear your recap. :D

    1. I’m right there with you, Lauren! I think this was the perfect first conference for me…only about 75 attendees and totally affordable. Not having to fly definitely helped to keep it in my budget. There are several that I’d love to attend, but are either out of my price range or have a gazillion attendees. Maybe we should just meet up and go to one together! :)

Here’s the conferences on my radar right now…Haven, Blog Elevated, Alt Summit, Build Your Blog, Snap!, The Makers Summit, Go Blog Social, and Blogger2Boss.

  3. Great photos and sounds like a wonderful experience! This is on my bucket list too, to attend a blog conference. Hopefully, that can happen this year or by next! Stopping by from Inspired Bloggers Network :)
