Hi folks! Sorry for the radio silence around here lately. It’s been a hell of a week. But lately I’ve been thinking a lot about our stairs and what we should do with them.
For some time now, my favorite look has been the antelope runner. It’s got a splash of exotic, while still being fairly neutral.
I just can’t decide if the antelope is something I would get tired of in a year or two. The way I see it, we basically have 3 options.
One option is to go without a runner. If we go this way, I would want to oil the tops of the stairs to keep them dark and rich, and paint the front of the steps white. Clean, crisp, classic.
The next option is to go with a neutral runner. Now remember, neutral doesn’t have to mean boring. Neutral can include color variations and patterns, but it won’t stand out as a feature.
The last option is to go with a bold runner. Something with a little more pizzazz that makes the stairs stand out.
Now it’s your turn to let me know what you think! What would you do? Cast your vote below, and give me your thoughts in the comment section!

By the way, I got my leopard runner from a carpet store and them make it into a runner. Found it to be cheaper. Plus you can have area rugs made to match.
Definitely HAVE to have a runner for your safety, and especially for little kids (which you will prob have) in sock feet and dogs/cats with furry paws. You will regret “no runner” when your dog slips down the stairs and is paralyzed or you child busts their head wide open. I have leopard, which is the new neutral. There are only so many ways to make a hall/stairs spectacular so here’s your chance. Leopard goes with everything, hides lots of dirt and even lint. Mine never looks like it needs to be vacuumed unless you look REALLY closely.

i went with an oriental rug runner, which is great for my decor. But whatever else you do ( and I am with the runner for safety school of thought) paint your risers white.
Paint the risers. Stain the treads.
Such a classic look!!
What a lovely staircase you have by the way! I’d totally keep it all wood with the exception of possibly painting the risers white. Can’t wait to see what you do!

Hi,
I have been trying to find the black and white long striped stair carpet in your last picture, with no success yet.
I wonder if you can help?
Do you know where I can source it for my home?
Thankyou!
