Luxury Boxes: When Interior Design & Sports Come Together

I read this post a few weeks back and was completely enthralled. Two of my favorite things coming together: sports and interior design! I mean, what’s not to like?

Clark Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, had this luxury suite built in Arrowhead Stadium. With thee stories and six bedrooms, the “box” has everything you could ever need!

Not bad, right?

The article also reminds us of the original “luxury box” — the Houston Astrodome built by Dallas Mayor Judge Ray Hofheinz in 1965. As if the sports and concerts going on in the Astrodome weren’t enough entertainment, Hofheinz’s suite had an office, a boardroom, a swanky bar, a barber shop, a beauty parlor, a playroom, a bowling alley, a putting green, a shooting gallery, a pool table, and even a presidential suite!

But wait, there’s more! You can find sneak peeks into more luxury boxes here.

  1. Dallas has rightfully claimed many things but this one is Houston’s. Roy Hofheinz was mayor of Houston, not Dallas. Dallas can have Jerry (even if he loves Arkansas) but Houston is keeping Roy (not Ray). The University of Houston’s basketball team also plays in an arena named for him, Hofheinz Pavilion.

    1. My bad, Elaine. I was actually just going off of the article linked above, which says that Hofheinz was the mayor of Dallas. Thanks for clearing that up. I know nothing about Texas, but I’d love to visit some day!! :)

  2. What an expansive mancave! My husband had similar plans for our attic conversion but the interior designer and I managed to convince him otherwise, thankfully.

    1. Haha! What is it with men and their man caves, Monica?! My husband actually said he doesn’t want a man cave because he feels like the whole house should be his space too. We’ll see how that pans out… ;)

  3. Can I simply say what a comfort to find somebody that really understands what they’re talking about online. You actually realize how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people need to read this and understand this side of your story. It’s surprising you are not more popular since you definitely possess the gift.

  4. Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on blogs I stumbleupon on a daily basis. It’s always useful to read through articles from other authors and use a little something from other web sites.
