Those of you that know me know that I can’t sit still for long. I like to cram my plate as full as possible. It’s just my nature…I’m happiest when I’m the busiest.
So today I’d like to introduce you to my latest project: The Herring Hulse Designer Showcase Home. Basically, we’re taking a run-down historic home in downtown Goldsboro, NC and transforming it into something beautiful, which will be on display later this Spring. The Designer Home will feature not only the work of talented designers from across the state, including Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, and Ferguson Bath, but also florists, landscape architects, and gardeners. (To clarify, I’m no designer, nor do I pretend to be…I’ll be heading up the marketing efforts and coordinating volunteers for this project.)
The Herring-Hulse Designer Showcase Home sits proudly in the heart of historic downtown Goldsboro. The two-story Williamsburg-style house, built in 1944, boasts 3,800 square feet and has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Other rooms in the Designer Home to include the kitchen, dining room, family room, breakfast room, playroom, study, laundry room, and side porch.
In addition, small business vendors will be on site each day and a “high tea” lunch will be available for purchase. The Designer Home will also host a Wine & Beer Tasting on Friday, May 1.
If you’re close by, you should come check it out beginning April 25. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed! With these “before” photos, the only way is up!
You can learn more about the house, the designers, the sponsors, and the schedule here. And be sure to check us out on Facebook too!

Love, love, LOVE this house! I simply cannot wait to see the progress. Are you going to keep us updated on the transformation (please!)? p.s. I really don’t mind the orange wallpaper ;)

Isn’t it gorgeous?! I’ll be posting a few sneak peeks along the way, and you can expect a full tour sometime in May! :)
Oh, I just know this is going to be so much fun. Will we get progress reports as well as after photos?

What a wonderful gift for the neighborhood!
Thank you Sarah! This was a great house to raise my kids! My great aunt lived there for 50 years. It is a replica of the George Wythe House in Williamsburg.
The house has great bones! Can’t wait to see how it turns out! Hope you’ll share photos!

I’m wondering about the build date of 1944. It looks so much older and I can’t imagine construction like this going on during the war when building materials were almost non-existent not to mention labor.

It actually was built in 1944. Hard to believe, I know!
