Better late than never, right? Here’s a glimpse inside our holiday home. #firstchristmasonparkave
So this is your view when you walk in our front door.
We need a bigger tree skirt, but I’m pretty much in love with this tree. We don’t have a tree topper yet, but we decided to just leave it this year because it really doesn’t need anything. We may have screwed ourselves over by getting the prettiest tree our first year…how will another tree ever live up to these 10.5 feet of gloriousness?! (Seriously though, the photos don’t do it justice.)
By the way, the brass shelf by the fireplace is for sale. I just haven’t gotten around to photographing it yet, but it looked prettier here than in the garage. If you’re interested, hit me up!
The nutcracker collection is actually Charles’. His mother has been collecting them for him for year, and this year she handed them over to us. We have decided to add one of our own each year.
I decided to not do a big centerpiece on the table, mainly because you have a great view of the Christmas tree from the table.
This simple mantel turned out to be one of my favorites. The rest of the room could use a little more, but for our first Christmas in the house (and with about a gazillion different things going on), I’m pretty happy with the result.
How lovely…… and I’m with you, I love the dining room mantel. But you can never go wrong with magnolia leaves and candles. Are both mantels original to the house? I know the dining room is, but could not tell about the other one. We live in a pre-1900 house and have 6 mantels to decorate, which I love, but each is different! Hope your Christmas is filled with joy. Vicki in Louisville KY
Very pretty! Love the mantel in the dining room. And your tree is wonderful! Merry Christmas!

Thanks Vicki! We have 8 fireplaces and each mantel is original. This year was a little crazy, so I only decorated 3. I’m looking forward to doing a different theme in each room in years to come!
