I haven’t totally decided on the formal living room layout yet, but I know that the pink sofa is moving to where the piano is currently to serve as one side of the seating area centered around the fireplace. I’ve also decided that I want to do a gallery wall above the couch.
I’ve never been a huge fan of gallery walls, but for some reason I’m really feeling it for this room. Plus, it will fill the large wall nicely until we can afford bigger pieces of art.
Here’s the feel I’m going for, but maybe a little more soft and a little less edgy.
I know I will start with my grandmother’s framed scarf as the center focal point and move outward from there. But that’s about as far as I’ve gotten.
Here are a few of my favorite prints that I think would go well in the room.

Which are your favorites? Do you have a gallery wall in your home?
I love the gallery wall we have in our hallway and I think you are off to a great start with yours. My only advice would be to include things that mean something special to you. This will insure you will love the wall for years to come.
Great advice, Elizabeth! Thanks! :)
Oh, that scarf! I’m gasping, and jealous. Love all the items so far. Also the pink shading around the leopard will tie in nicely with the sofa.
Hi, Sarah. We did this back in the early 70s and glad to know it’s coming around again. A suggestion for placement. Place your gallery on the floor in your foyer within the same space it will use on the wall, climb a few stairs and look down at it. You can see how the grouping will look. Then you can make any changes and get everything just right before putting holes in the wall. Learned this tip from a friend long, long ago and found it a big help. Enjoy your blog. Thank you.
Such a great tip! Thanks so much!! :)
Your selections all compliment each other so nicely, and the art is sophisticated and fresh. I love framed scarves. They are works of art, and some deserve to be in a frame and not the closet shelf :) Can’t wait to see the finished wall.
Thanks, Nicki! I agree…scarves should be artwork too! :)
One of the curses of renting is that I cant hang any frame at all. And then I have a little boy so I cant use the wall to lean frames esp if they have glass. So I can only dream things and maybe hopefully do plans that I want when we have our own house =) #magicmoments
