It’s Not Always Black and White

I’d love to share with you what color we went with for our front door after this post, but actually we still haven’t decided!  We’ve been putting it off, and now the time has come to officially make the decision.  Charles and I are still on opposite sides of the fence on this one, so I’m counting on you to weigh in!

black white

Here’s what you need to know…

1. Our porch will be painted a very dark gray…darker than what you see in the pictures above.

2.  All trim is painted white, and all shutters are painted black.

3. The numbers you see above are no longer usable, so we can match new numbers to whatever colors we pick.

4. We have quite a few options:  paint both doors white; paint both doors black; paint the inside door white and the screen door black; paint the inside door black and the screen door white; paint either or both a completely different color.

Ok, now it’s your turn.  What do you think?

  1. For me…my choice if it was my house…blk. shudders, white trim with white front outside door and my pop of color on the inside door. I like brightness in a door when you walk up so the black all together on the doors for me…would have to go. There is one opinion. ..good luck

  2. I vote for a white screen door and a totally different color for the door. I have always liked a bright color on front doors. Makes for a welcoming entrance. With gray, black and white the color wheel is what you have to choose from. Can’t wait to see the finished project!

  3. Shocking as it may sound I would go with a black screen door and a (gasp) bright red front door. There, I’ve said it. Whatever you choose I know it will be beautiful. You both have outstanding taste.

  4. If your house is gray, pop those doors with a fun and bright color suiting your age. Go bright green, or fushia-(seen it done and was awesome), poppy, orange, bittersweet or violet. Check HGTV ‘ front door section. If you match chair cushions and a wreath or planters, everyone is going to be talking about how great your house’s front looks!
