Luxury Real Estate in Rio

Have you been watching the Summer Olympics in Rio so far? We binged over the weekend and caught a little bit of everything…soccer, basketball, swimming, ping pong, field hockey, and more! But not everything at the Olympics has been glamorous so far.

You’ve probably heard that the athlete accomodations at the Rio Olympics leave something to be desired, but there’s still plenty to love when it comes to real estate in this Brazillian city!

6 Reasons You Need to Read Southern Living Right Now

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Southern Living magazine! Southern Living puts on an Idea House each year, and this year’s house just might be my favorite yet. The Idea House is in Mt. Laurel, Alabama…about half an hour outside Birmingham. It’s roughly 4,000 square feet and has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and a 2 car garage.

The house is stunning, but the designers that brought it together are the real story. Southern Living rounded up the South’s top young designers this year and they really brought it. As the magazine says, “the space is a fresh take on traditional Southern style without sacrificing any of the charm.” So, big surprise…I’m obsessed!

Craigslist Find: A Vintage China Cabinet

Who doesn’t love Craigslist? I routinely check in just to see what’s out there. I have a running list I keep on my phone for pieces I’m trying to find…night stands for the master, a new chair for the den, a big round table for the foyer, end chairs for the dining room table. So when I saw a beautiful vintage china cabinet in excellent condition in Raleigh, I had to go see it. I think I was in the house all of 30 seconds before I said, “I’ll take it!”

Christmas in July

Earlier this week, I was shopping for a few garden things when I stumbled upon aisles (yes, multiple aisles…plural!!) of Christmas decor. Too soon, people. Too soon.

I used to be a strictly no-Christmas-before-Thanksgiving lobbyist, but as I get older (and as we settle into our house), I rethink that more and more. I’m not suggesting we start decorating in July, but maybe November isn’t so bad.

Anyway, it got me thinking…we could all use a little Christmas in July, even if it’s just for a few moments.
